If your battery will not take a charge it may be because your charger is not working.

If it reads just over 12 volts the charger is working so the issue is your battery.
When you have broken equipment you should test it to see if you can fix it or if you must replace it instead.
Place the end of the black wire from the voltmeter onto the metal clamp on the end of the black cable from the battery charger.
If the alternator is not charging the battery then the car will stall after a short time.
If you don t want to take your car to a mechanic the easiest way to isolate the problem is to pull one fuse at a time from the fuse panel until the ammeter reading drops.
If the alternator is bad will a jump start work.
Read the voltmeter display.
If the key off drain exceeds 100 milliamps there s an electrical problem that requires further diagnosis.
Assuming the battery is not faulty then there is something draining the power from the battery.
If there s no reading the charger needs repairing so check the fuses.
